Thomas DeSando

I’m a multi time award winning filmmaker providing various roles in Directing, Director of Photography, Producing, Editing and Drone Pilot. As an owner/operator of multiple cinema cameras (Red Komodo, Canon R5 C, Nikon Z8 and Zcam E2S6) and having a variety of film equipment from cine lenses (DZO, Sigma, Laowa, Rokinon) to drones (Mavic 3), lights (Aputure 600D Pro, 300x, 120D, 60x), Matthews Road Rag kits, Matthews Road Flags kits, Dana Dollies, DJI gimbals and Syrup sliders amongst many other pieces of equipment. Utilizing these filmmaking skills allows me to utilize a variety of visual elements to help tell your story behind the lens while proficiently crafting your story as an editor. I owe major credit for the style in my work to my film background from the University of Colorado.

As for work, I have an eclectic background of working in a variety of film production roles from production assistant, assistant camera, camera operator, drone operator, cinematographer, director of photography, producer and director. I’ve directed short films, corporate videos, documentaries, real estate videos, wedding videos and much more. I also have experience working in TV productions filing in as a DP when needed and commercials. My sports content has won multiple Silver and Bronze Telly Awards where the competition included the production teams of the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Red Bull and Miami Dolphins to name a few. As an editor, I’ve edited commercials, electronic press kits, long form narrative films “Document” and “Lilith”, documentaries, promo videos, corporate videos, testimonials and more. Over the last 8 years, I’ve provided video services to the Denver Metro and Chicagoland area in sports videography for multiple companies along with my own. To date, I’ve filmed over 1500 combined sporting events. I’ve worked directly with Athletic Directors, coaches and booster clubs to provide in depth coverage and highlight over 30+ athletic teams in 3 states including Carthage College, Monarch H.S., Lemont H.S., Joliet Catholic H.S., Naperville North H.S., Lutheran H.S., Saint Ignatius H.S., Lockport H.S., Lincoln-Way West H.S., Broomfield H.S., Green Mountain H.S., and Boulder H.S. I’ve also worked with the IHSA (Illinois High School Association) for a variety of promotional videos emphasizing the need to get involved with officiating and coaching.

My work has been viewed in local, national and international markets. I’m also a Certified Part 107 UAS drone pilot.
